Rosen Barchovski has been chosen for the best coach in EUROHOLD Balkan League for season 2014/2015. The head coach of BC Rilski Sportist earned the award after leading his team through to the final after a hard fought season. Barchovski will be presented with the award before the second game with KB Sigal Prishtina on Wednesday, 29th of April, in Samokov.

Rosen Barchovski comes from one of the most famous basketball families in Bulgaria. His father Tsvyatko Barchovski was head coach of Bulgarian Men’s NT for a lot of years while his mother Vanya Voynova was the best female player the country has ever had. She was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in FIBA posthumuosly.

Rosen himself was a famous basketball player too. As a player Barchovski spent most of his career in CSKA. He played 19 years for the team of his heart and won 6 titles and 9 cups of Bulgaria.
 
The coaching career of Barchovski starts back in 1992 in Portugal where the following year his team finished second in the league. He has one title of Bulgaria in 1997 as head coach of Slavia with whom he also won the Cup of Bulgaria the same year.Then with CSKA he won once again the Cup in 2005 and with his current team - Rilski Sportist has finished third four times (2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015).

Rosen Barchovski was also a head coach of the Bulgarian Men’s NT numerous times and with him the country qualified for Eurobasket 2005 after a 12-year-absence. Then at Eurobasket 2011 in Poland when he came back as a head coach, Barchovski led the team to its first win after 22 years.

Barchovski has been with Rilski Sportist since the beginning of 2011 and in his first months with the team he reached the final in EUROHOLD Balkan League. Then in 2013 Rilski finished third in the competition and this year the team reached its third final and second with Barchovski.

Season 2014/2015 happened to be a tough one for Rilski finishing second in the First Group Stage with 4 wins and 4 losses and then third in the Second Group Stage. After that the team from Samokov had to go through very hard quarterfinal series and defeated KK Kumanovo 2009 and eliminated them after overtime in the second leg. On the way to the finals, Rilski Sportist eliminated KB Peja after a great away victory.

Rosen Barchovski has always been a big supporter of the Balkan League and is one of the most experienced and respectful by both opponents and referees coach.
