Sigal Prishtina with perfect record after winning a drama in Peja

KB Sigal Prishtina finished with perfect record the Second Stage in the Balkan League. The champions defeated KB Peja 74-72 away in an overtime drama to record sixth straight win in that stage. Both teams offered another interesting clash as the one in Prishtina three weeks ago, and again it raised to the expectations. Sigal had qualified for the semifinals after the fourth round while Peja finished with 2 wins and 4 defeats in the Second Stage and ended up as third in the group.

 

Sigal scored the first five points of the game and led in the beginning. In the final minute of the first quarter Davis scored a triple to put Peja up by 1 and this was the difference after ten minutes. The visitors then scored the first 7 points of the second period but Peja responded with great defense. The hosts made 10-0 run to go up by 4 as Sigal didn′t score in almost six minutes. Then however they tied the score and the first half finished 27-27. 

 

Shortly after the second half started the visitors made a 7-0 run to go up by 6 points. In the next minutes the visitors were controlling the game and stopped all Peja′s attempts to tie again. Still the hosts were close and the difference after 30 minutes was 6 points but in the fourth Peja again tied the score. The game went to the wire as with minute and a half to go Davis scored a three-pointer to give Peja 2-point advantage. Then both teams misssed as Abukar hit a triple for Sigal to give his team the lead again. In the next offense Burwell couldn′t score for the hosts, Berisha made one free throw and with 21 seconds to go Peja had a chance to tie. With 13 to play Davis was fouled and went to the free throw line and he made both shots to tie the score. Sigal had the chance to win but Washburn was called for a traveling and then Peja had 5 seconds and the ball. The hosts however didn′t manage to organize a good offense, Burwell missed a long three-pointer and the game went to overtime.

 

Sigal scored the first 5 points of the extra period but Peja again tied the score. The visitors again took the lead and Fisnik Rugova scored only one free throw to cut the deficit to 1. Then Peja missed a chance to take the lead and with 26 seconds to go Berisha scored two free throw to give Sigal a 3-point edge. Again though the hosts responded and with 21 seconds to play Alban Veseli hit a triple to tie. Willie Kemp though made a lay-up with 5 seconds on the clock and after Ronald Davis missed the win went to Sigal.

 

Andrew Warren was the top scorer for the winners with 21 points. Mohamed Abukar had 18 and 8 rebounds while Willie Kemp scored 13 points and dished out 6 assists.

 

For the home side Ronald Davis was the top scorer with 21 points. Alban Veseli had 19 while Fisnik Rugova played very well and added double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
