Domestic leagues: Rilski Sportist keeps winning, Akademik lost away

BC Rilski Sportist recorded its fourth win since the start of the season. The Samokov team hosted Yambol and dominated to take 101-75 victory. 

 

It was a close start to the match but near the end of first period the home team pulled away. Then their lead double figures in the second but Yambol responded to tie the game. Still Rilski finished strong the first half and had an 11-point edge which was increased after the break. 

 

Travis Taylor had 17 points and 14 rebounds for the win as Derick Wright added 16 points.

 

In the mean time Akademik Bultex 99 suffered its third defeat in a row. The Plovdiv team visited Cherno more and was beaten 71-81

 

The hosts started well with a 13-0 run and had a good lead after that. Akademik came back in the third period to close the gap to just 2 but in the final minutes the hosts held on.

 

Isiah Umipig had 19 points for Akademik while Stanislav Vaklinov added 15 and 11 rebounds.


Rilski Sportist is second in the standings with 4-2 record but also has a game more than Lukoil Academic. Akademik is fourth with 3-3 record followed by Levski 2014 with 3-2 but also with a game less as The Blues rested over the weekend.
