Domestic leagues: Rilski lost to the champions, Akademik wins away

BC Rilski Sportist′s run of seven straight wins in Bulgarian league came to an end. It was stopped by the champions Lukoil Academic who took a 93-76 victory away in Samokov.

 

The visitors led from the first minutes ahd held on to a 10-point advantage. In the third quarter Rilski closed the gap to just 6 but Lukoil decided the outcome with a 16-2 run.

 

Derek Wright was the top scorer for the Samokov team with 17 points as Travis Taylor added 14.

 

BC Akademik Bultex 99 had its third straight win after 78-70 away at Yambol. The Plovdiv team went up early and took a 17-point edge at the break. After it the hosts were trying to come close and did it but the win of Akademik was never in doubt.

 

Martin Durchev was the top scorer for the victory with 16 points as Shakir Smith and Vasil Bachev had 13 apiece.

 

Both Rilski Sportist and Akademik Bultex 99 have 6 wins and 3 defeats and are tied for second place but with a game more than Balkan. Later today Levski 2014 will host Cherno more in Sofia.
