Teuta wins a drama against Barsy to stop its bad run
KS Teuta stopped its run of three straight defeats in the Balkan League. The Durres team hosted BC Barsy Atyrau and in an interesting contest won dramatically 73-71. The match went through a lot of ups and downs for both sides as each had the chance to win. The outcome was decided in the final second when the hosts used their opportunity while the Kazakhs didn′t. Both sides will meet again on Friday while before that in Wednesday Barsy will play Bashkimi in Durres. At the moment Teuta has 4 wins and 3 defeats while the Kazakhstan team has lost all four of its games so far.
The teams exchanged baskets early and then Teuta pulled away but not by much. The home took a 5-point lead and was holding on to it until the end of the first quarter when the difference was 7. In the the home side kept leading but couldn′t build any bigger advantage. Near the end of the half Barsy finally managed to close the gap and the margin at the break was just a point.
In the fourth minute of the third quarter the score was tied but then the visitors made a run to take a 5-point edge and after 30 minutes it became six. Early in the fourth quarter the difference reached double digits at 10 but then Teuta answered with a great 15-0 run to retake the advantage. The visitors answered with 7 straight points to restore its lead but in the next offense Kristi Gorea hit a very important triple to put Teuta up by 1. With 36 seconds to play the visitors tied the score and they even had the chance to take the lead but made a turnover. CJ Wilson scored the ball and scored at the other end to give Teuta a 2-point edge but still there was time for the visitors. The ball went to Dixson who tried a difficult three-pointer which came short and as Copes grabbed the rebound the winner was decided.
CJ Wilson was the top scorer for the hosts with 17 points making also the decisive basket in the end. Eric Copes had 15 points as Kristi Gorea scored 14 in a game in which five played reached double figures.
The visitors were led by Aragad Abramian who finished with 17 points in his debut. Bojan Bakic had 14 points and 4 assists while Vladimir Ivanov added 13 points.
