No trouble for Academic Bultex 99

BC Academic Bultex 99 recorded its fourth straight and sixth overall win in the Balkan League. The Plovdiv side hosted KB Bashkimi and took 109-59 victory after taking the lead at the end of the first quarter and holding it until the end. Bashkimi on the other side did better than in previous games but didn′t have a real chance for the win. Academic Bultex 99 is now tied with Teuta with 6-3 record and the team will meet Barsy Atyrau on Monday when it will hope to book its Final Four place. Bashkimi on the other side now has 1-8 record and on Thursday will visit Beroe.

Academic scored the first 5 points of the game but Bashkimi hit back and quickly answered. In the first quarter the team exchanged points as there were no big leads. Still the hosts were up by 3 after ten minutes and with 6-0 start of the second period pulled away. Bashkimi closed the gap to just 2 but a 9-0 run put the hosts up by 11 before the visitors scored the next 4 points to be down by 7 at the break.

With just three minutes played in the second half the difference reached 12 points. This time Academic didn′t allow the visitors to cut it and instead increased it to 18 at the end of the third quarter. That practically was the decisive moment as there was no coming back for Bashkimi after that. Moreover the last quarter started with 16-0 for the home team which increased the difference a lot.

Daishon Knight was on fire against his old team and scored 19 points for the winners. Adriyan Sekulov came off the bench to finish with 15 as Vasil Bachev added 13 points. The hosts also gave a chance to 14-year old Simeon Dimitrov who played 5 minutes and was able to score his first basket in the competition.

The visitors were led by Jordan Capps who finished the game with 19 points. Steven Haney added 13 while Michael Martin had 11 and 8 assists.
