First win for Radnicki 034 Group, first loss for Swisslion Takovo

In a dramatic finish, the guests from Radnicki 034 Group recorded their first victory in the Eurohold Balkan League. Earlier today team from Kragujevac was better than Swisslion Takovo by 5 points – 77-72. In the meantime the loss was first for Lions in this year competition.
Led by Uros Duvnjak and Rajko Kljajevic, the players from Kragujevac achieved their first, well-deserved win and still have their chances to reach next round. During a larger part of the game the Lions had the advantage, but the guests played well in the 4th quarter, came back and won at the end. The winner was decided in the last minutes of the game, when Duvnjak scored 6 consecutive points, while Rajko Kljajevic brought decisive advantage to the Kragujevac team. In the last attack, the Lions players missed two opportunities to push the game into overtime but shots for 3 points by captain Markovic and Popovic weren’t succesful.
Kljajevic led Radnicki 034 Group with 27 points while Duvnjak added 26. Two players from Swisslion Takovo had 14 points apiece – Branko Jorovic and Vladimir Popovic.
At the press conference after the game, the player of Radnicki 034 Group Dusan Vucicevic, pointed out that his team played hard during all 40 minutes and that this victory was a great motivation for the following game in the national championship with Borac from Cacak.
The captain of Lions, Radovan Markovic, was not satisfied with his team’s performance in defense during the fourth frame. “We led during most part of the game but we didn’t show our best performance in the decisive 10 minutes. We must get back to the right track, and the best recipe for that is victory.”
The coach of Radnicki, Zoran Cvetanovic, stressed that this victory was very important from psychological point of view. “We managed to break the ice in this competition. As opposed to the game with the same opponent in the national championship, we managed to prevent host team from achieving significant point advantage in the third quarter.”
Lions coach, Dejan Mijatovic, said that his team didn’t manage to recover from the defeat in Swisslion League, against Borac from Cacak. “Our bad shooting for 3 points and the visitors’ dominance in rebounds were decisive for the game.”
Next week Swisslion will have opportunity to qualify for the quarterfinals when they face CSU Cuadrpol Brasov. Radnicki 034 Group will play another away game, this time at Kavadarci versus Macedonian champions Feni Industries.
