10 March 1943 and 11 March 1943 are quite contradicting dates in the Jewish history as they mark on one hand one of the darkest dates for thousands of families but on the other a ray of light that even through those evil times not all the good was forgotten.

Tonight's game in Kumanovo, between the local team and Hapoel Holon, began with 1-minute silence commemorating the deported during the Second World War Jews from the administrative territories of Macedonia, North of Greece and the city of Pirot to Treblinka extermination camp.

11 March 1943 is amongst the most sad and horrific days in the world’s history and the sacrifice of those who lost their lives shall always be remembered.

The President of North Macedonia Mr. Stevo Pendarovski is attending tomorrow an official ceremony in Israel opening a memorial monument for the anniversary.

Bulgaria celebrates today - 10 March – the Day of the Salvation of the Bulgarian Jews - a proud and brave act of the Bulgarian Tsar Boris II and public figures such as Bulgarian Orthodox Church bishops Stefan of Sofia and Kiril of Plovdiv as well as members of parliament led by Dimitar Peshev, who at first stopped the deportation temporarily but 2 months later indefinitely.

H.E. the Ambassador of Israel to Bulgaria Mr. Yoram Elron alongside the Mayor of Sofia Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova traditionally participated in the ceremony marking the 78th anniversary since the Salvation Day, which took place at the Salvation Monument in Sofia, Bulgaria.

May all of us always respect and remember!

May humanity never experience again anything so horrible as the Holocaust!
