Shay Shtriks: We consider our league to be a basketball school for everyone

Delasport Balkan League Sports Director Mr. Shay Shtriks spoke before the match between PAYABL EKA AEL and KK Lovcen 1947.
He commented on the situation with the war in Israel and the future of the current season to Alfa Sports TV.
"The participation of PAYABL EKA AEL in the Delasport Balkan League was one of the most important decisions we have made. To open the door in the future for more teams from Cyprus to participate. I am very glad that PAYABL EKA AEL is participating because we needed this and so do they. I think it's a win-win situation for everybody."
"The league was created in 2008 after I finished my career as a referee. This is the 16th season, but the most difficult one because many variables do not depend on us. We are like a basketball school for everyone so that clubs can develop and continue in bigger tournaments. Over the years we have had many teams that started in the Balkan League and went on to the FIBA Cup, the Champions League, and the EuroCup. We consider our league to be an elementary school. This is our job."
"The situation is not pleasant for anyone, but it is a war that affects our region, in sports, and in the world. We decided to start with a Balkan group. I have been to Israel several times, but you cannot make any decision because there are some ideas that we might have to decide on in January depending on the situation in Israel. Until then we will be playing the Balkan group. They will be joined by KB Peja who are the champions of Kosovo. The aim is to have a strong team at the end of April Final Four and everyone be happy. For now, we're taking it day by day and being corporate with the teams. The situation is like this and we can't change it. We have to find a solution."
"To see Nicos Solomonides Arena full again and people happy is the best result that can happen. The main goal is to have children and families in the hall. I am very happy because of this thing," Shtriks concluded.
