Mornar win again versus Steaua

Mornar Bar repeated their performance from Round 1 of the EUROHOLD Balkan League and once again won against the team of CSA Steua Turabo, but this time at home in Bar. To be honest it wasn`t a high scoring game, but Mornar managed to get the win with a final score of 66:59.

Steaua got off to a strong start in the first quarter and quickly built an 3:11 lead with 6 minutes remaining until the end of the first. With less than four minutes left, they were up 5:14, and after the first period they had a 5-point lead - 13:18.

In the second period Mornar started playing more active, and after a three-pointer by Milos Djurisic the score was tied at 18:18 with 6.56 remaining on the clock. The two teams were tied again at 22:22, but after that Mornar managed to have a minimal lead, which was made 29:28 after 20 minutes, after a basket by Nikola Ljulic.

After halftime Mornar got off to a good run, and were up 36:30 after a three by Nemanja Radovic, with less than 7 minutes to go in the third. After one succesful free-throw by Monty Mack the score was tied at 45:45 after 30 minutes of play and it was gonna be decided late in the fourth period.

In the last quarter Mornar didn`t let their lead slip and deservedly grabbed an important 66:59 win.

Milos Djurisic was the top scorer for Mornar with 11 points, as he also had 5 rebounds. The only other player to finish in double digits was Miroslav Damjanovic who had 10 points, along with 4 assists and 4 boards. Djordje Gagic and Nemanja Radovic had 9 points each, while Nikola Ljulic finished with 8.

For CSA Steua Turabo Ronald Timus was the top scoring player tonight, as the American scored 18 points. Anthony Myles had a good debut in the EUROHOLD Balkan League as he had a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Dragoslav Papic also had 11 points, but he added 6 turnovers, along with his 7 rebounds. Monty Mack had 10 points and 7 turnovers.

CSA Steua Turabo outrebounded Mornar 46 to 41, but also the Romanian side had 7 turnovers more than the opposition - 23 against just 16.

That was Mornar`s third win, as they now have a 50% balance - 3 wins and 3 losses, while Steaua are still looking for their first win, and are 0-6.
