Strong second half takes Kumanovo to the next stage

KK Kumanovo 2009 is through to the next stage in EUROHOLD Balkan League. The team recorded its third straight win in group C which was enough for them to qualify. Kumanovo hosted KK Mornar and won 92-84 and that also eliminated the Montenegrin team from the competition. With one round to play Craiova, Peja and Kumanovo are tied for first place with 3 victories and two defeats while Mornar is fourth with 1-4 record. Next week Craiova will host Kumanovo while seven days later Peja will visit in Bar.

At first Kumanovo had the advantage but after Mornar went in front and managed to take 6-point advantage after ten minutes. With 6-0 run to start the second quarter, the home team tied the game, and then the teams continued to exchange baskets. Because of this at the break the visitors were up by 1 and there was everything to play for in the second half.

It started with 7-0 for the hosts and they took a 6-point lead. Soon after Kumanovo scored 6 points in a row to go up by 12 and they led until the end. At times the difference went to 15 points and Mornar couldn′t come back from that.

Top performer for the winners was Uros Lukovic with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Sasa Avramovic had 19 points while Marjan Janeski and Vukasin Mandic added 13 apiece.

For the visitors Samuel Coleman had a good game with 21 points and 9 rebounds while Nikola Korac and Milos Milosevic had 14 points apiece.
