Domestic leagues: Akademik lost the first semifinal in a drama

BC Akademik Bultex 99 lost the first semifinal in the Bulgarian league. At home the Plovdiv team hosted Balkan but was beaten 78-79 in a dramatic fashion.

The visitors had a great start and early in the second quarter went up by 21 points. Akademik however responded with 17-3 to close the gap and eventually tied the score just before the end of the third period. In the final one the hosts led by 5 and with 18 seconds to go were up by 1 and had two free throws. However they were both missed and then Zahariev scored his free throws to give the visitors the win.

Dimitar Dimitrov had 22 points for Akademik while Vasil Bachev added 16.
